Family Events
When it comes to South Australia's many festivals and events, we've put a lot of thought into catering for children.
They can take part in the Tour Down Under, dance at WOMADelaide and so much more. You'll get a kick out of the smiles on their faces.
The Tour Down Under, our international cycling race, has a race leg for 8-14 year olds. They'll love the feeling of whizzing past the finishing line - and they get their own special jersey too.
The Clipsal 500 V8 race has a shaded family area, with plenty of free attractions for children and a superscreen to ensure you won't miss any on-track action. And international music festival WOMADelaide has a KidZone, with giant inflatable animals, international art and crafts workshops, carousel, ball pit, face painting and more.

The Fringe Festival offers Gala 4 Kids, a side-splitting showcase of talent with some of the best and funniest performances for kids. For the first time in 2007, the Fringe offered the Baby Rave, a real rave complete with DJ, music, dance instructors and lighting suited to children under four and their parents. Look out for the Fringe program next year.
The National Motor Museum is always popular with children, but every July school holidays it also becomes home to Thomas the Tank Engine. Ride on Thomas and celebrate everything about the very special engine that we adore.
See the sky come alive with colourful kites at the Semaphore Kite Festival. Held every March, your family will be captivated by the variety of kites, taking on all sorts of forms and characters. Watch the progress of your favourite kite, and if neck-craning becomes too much, take time out at Semaphore's sideshow, riding the historic carousel or just enjoying an ice cream.

Of course, the Royal Adelaide Show - like all traditional Australian fairs - has a fabulous sideshow alley, ferris wheel, fairy floss, arcade games and more. Take your children to see baby farm animals, watch the woodchopping competitions, get autographs from their favourite sporting and TV stars, or stock up on show bags.
The Adelaide Festival Centre hosts Something on Saturday, a much-loved program for children including theatre shows and craft workshops in the centre's foyet.
See Father Christmas and the Credit Union Christmas Pageant every November. The pageant has more than 50 festive and fairytale floats and more than 900 costumed characters. Join the thousands of people who line the route through the heart of Adelaide.
