Volcanoes
The volcanoes of Limestone Coast form part of the Volcanoes Discovery Trail which extends into Victoria.
It takes you on an elightening journey through the landscape of Australia's youngest volcanoes, albeit dormant ones.
The Blue Lake, the main attraction of the town of Mount Gambier, occupies one of the craters of the extinct volcano after which the city has been named.
Mount Schank is a prominent volcanic cone located 17 kilometres south of Mount Gambier. It is regarded as the youngest volcano in Australia, with thoughts of activity occurring only 2000 years ago. Because of this, it is not classified as extinct. Take a walk to the rim and even venture into the volcano crater.
