Canoe Trails
Riverland canoeing offers you the chance to get closer to nature in tranquil river surroundings.
The Riverland is one of a few places in South Australia that offer this activity. Take an existing canoe trail or discover your own, and explore the scenic backwaters and lagoons.
You'll find a huge network of Riverland canoe routes through channels, lagoons and creeks. Popular canoeing spots include:
Loch Luna
See an abundance of bird life as you venture through the maze of backwaters. There are secluded campsites with great access from Lake Bonney, Cobdogla and Kingston-on-Murray Caravan Park.
Katarapko Creek
Part of Murray River National Park, Katarapko Creek offers good car camping facilities. If you want to take the family on a relaxing camping holiday this is the place. There is a good launching area from Loxton Caravan Park where vehicles can be left.
Chowilla/Ral Ral
Get away from powerboats in a wilderness environment. This is a maze of interconnecting creeks and billabongs, steeped in history. Water can be low at times, and at others can be flowing quickly.
Riverland Nature Trails brochure
The Riverland Nature Trails brochure lists 27 nature trails that interpret the heritage, ecology and culture of the region including canoe trails.
