Details
Gladstone Square is located in the Port Augusta city centre, on the corner of Jervois Street and Marryatt Street. This picturesque square complete with rotunda, two gazebos and a barbecue area that provides a shady landscaped grassed patch is suitable for picnic lunches. Gladstone Square also has a playground with a disable swing and drinking fountain. A key for access to the disabled swing is obtained from the Civic Centre and Library during their opening hours (Library is open seven days a week). Points of historical interest surround the square, including the old Court House, Water Works Barracks, Presbyterian Church, the Gateway Inn, now a supermarket and several memorials. The Port Augusta Cultural Centre-Yarta Purtli, the Town Bowling Club and the Port Augusta Public Library and Civic Centre all border Gladstone Square with the Wadlata Outback Centre just a few metres from the southern end of the square.
