Lady Nelson Visitor and Discovery Centre
The Lady Nelson Visitor and Discovery Centre provides a personalised information service on Mount Gambier and the Limestone Coast in the south east region of South Australia. Servicing annually 80,000 visitors to Mount Gambier, The Lady Nelson Visitor and Discovery Centre is a fantastic place to source information on The Blue Lake and other attractions in the Limestone Coast.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday/Sunday and public holidays 10am to 4pm with the exception of Christmas Day which the centre is closed.
Because Mount Gambier is centrally located between Adelaide and Melbourne, 10 minutes drive from the Victorian Border, a selected range of information is provided for all South Australian and Victorian regions. A small range of information for the other states is also available.
On display at "The Lady Nelson" is the fossilized skull of Simosthenurus occdentalis, an extinct short-faced kangaroo estimated to be between 50,000 and 500,000 years old, has been handed over to The City of Mount Gambier for display at the centre.
