Birdsville and Innamincka - Nine Day Tour
The history of The Birdsville Track comes to life as we leave Marree and head north through Stations including Lake Harry, Clayton, Dulkaninna, Etadunna, Mulka, to Mungerannie and an overnight stop!
Continuing on the Track next day, we stop at Mitta Mitta to view a free flowing artesian bore, then through Clifton Hills and Sturts Stony Desert, Pandie Pandie, to Birdsville.
Attractions include The Birdsville Working Museum, Waddi Trees, "Dingo Caves", old causeway and Pelican Point. We take an afternoon drive to "Big Red" (Nappanerica Sandune).
Depending on road conditions our travel to Innamincka is via either the Cordillo Downs Road or Arrabury Road.
A loop road through the Innamincka Mesa to Nappa Merrie brings us to Burke and Will's Camp LXV and the Dig Tree. We return to Innamincka via the Burke and Wills Bridge, visiting Burke's Marker, and Cullyamurra waterhole. A drive along 15 Mile Track to Kings and Wills Markers completes the history and culture of the Burke and Wills Expedition.
Leaving Innamincka we journey through Cameron Corner and Sturt National Park to Tibooburra, and Milparinka, taking a detour to visit Sturt's Depot Glen before continuing on the Silver City Highway to Broken Hill and Adelaide.
