Gawler Ranges - Five Day Tour
Travel in the comfort of our four wheel drive vehicle via the northern town of Port Wakefield, to Port Augusta, where we join the Eyre Highway to Iron Knob, then travel through Station properties of Corunna, Siam, Mount Miccollo and Nonning, on our way to Mount Ive in the heart of the Gawler Ranges!
A day trip includes Peters Pillars (a rhyolite outcrop), Lake Gairdner, Kath's Castle,
The Embankment, Pondana Ruins, Yardea and Hiltaba.
Leaving Mount Ive Station, we head south, passing Mount Nott and Spring Hill before arriving at Paney Station (a recently declared National Park). We visit Pildappa Rock, Tcharkuldu Hill and Minnipa. A little further is Wudinna, where we explore (climb?) Turtle Rock, Polda Rock and Mount Wudinna.
The Eyre Highway takes us through Kyancutta, Kimba and Iron Knob to Whyalla and Port Augusta. We continue through Horrocks Pass to Wilmington and Melrose in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
Our return to Adelaide is through Orroroo and the Gilbert Valley, including Burra and Riverton.
