Robertson's Cave Trail Four Hour Horse Ride - LCH04
Where else can you enjoy a scenic horse ride, cave tour and bush picnic all in the one experience? This unique ride traverses ancient sand dunes, heritage scrub, grazing land, swamps and pine forest through the Naracoorte Ranges in South Australia. Relax and take in the scenery, or challenge yourself as you ride your horse along the beautiful undulating trails. Learn about the area's geology and history as you explore Robertson's Cave, one of the oldest in the area, named after an early settler who built the majestic Struan House nearby. This cave is accessible only by special permit, and is in its natural state with no artificial paths or lighting. Million-year-old fossils, huge calcite columns, and bent-wing bats in winter are features of the cave. Enjoy a catered picnic at our rustic bush hut with home cooking, regional produce and billy tea (seasonal). Local wildlife including kangaroos, echidnas, cockatoos and wombat habitats can be spotted, while wattles, native orchids, wildflowers and wetlands enhance the landscape in winter and spring. All trail rides include riding instruction as required, with pace tailored to rider ability.
