Foodies are recognising the potential of South Australia after the Australian Financial Review acknowledged some exciting new South Australian establishments in its top 100 restaurants list. It included new eclectic ventures such as the South African-themed Africola and small fine-diners like Orana that are boldly using native ingredients such as bunya nuts, green ants and quandongs.
There's also a new energy in the invigorated laneway quarter around Leigh Street, Peel Street and Gilbert Place with the opening of small bars. Today the precinct is a pocket rocket of inner city personality and boozy goodness. The rooftops have also had a makeover with 2KW Bar serving cocktails at 30 metres atop a heritage-listed bank building and providing knock-out views.
