Overview
The Marine Discovery Centre, located in Henley Beach, aims to provide the most inspirational discovery learning experiences whilst empowering students to actively protect South Australia's iconic coastal and marine environments.
Aquariums feature local marine wildlife species in addition to interactive learning stations covering topics such as sustainable fishing, responsible water use, Aboriginal culture and the importance of preserving our marine environments. There are also engaging beachside marine trails which complement the centre's indoor educational activities.
School Excursions
Our school group visiting hours are 9.45am to 2pm on Tuesday to Fridays. School holiday and private group bookings are also available
Aboriginal Programs
The Centre plays a vital role in teaching visitors about Aboriginal cultural knowledge and understanding of our marine and coastal habitats.
Corporate Team Building Days
Our Marine Scientists can provide Dune Care experiences including planting and weeding and/or Marine Debris Surveys
Adopt a Creature
Our Adopt a Creature program allows participants to learn more about marine life, feed their creature and to provide financial support to the centre
Private Events
The centre can be booked for private events from seminars to birthday parties
Open Days
The Marine Discovery Centre is open to the public one weekend per month in addition to selected days during the school holidays.
