The David Roche Foundation

Price from $17.00

Overview

The David Roche Collection in North Adelaide is one of the greatest decorative arts collections in a private institution in Australia. It spans two centuries of European design from the early Rococo of France to Faberge in Russia.

Opened in June 2016, the museum consists of David Roche’s former home, Fermoy House and a new, state-of-the-art adjoining AUD5million building to house his exceptional private art collection. Objects are presented in an opulent manner reminiscent of how David lived in Fermoy House, whilst the new museum wing houses an exhibition space with changing displays.

Acquiring wonderful works of decorative art was one of David’s greatest passion. This passion took David all over the world collecting the best pieces possible. The collection’s great strengths lie in eighteenth and nineteenth century European decorative arts: furniture, metalware, ceramics and clocks of remarkable quality. The collection also includes paintings as well as smaller objects of interest and rarity.

Tours of the museum complex can be booked Tuesday to Saturday. Closed Public Holidays.

The David Roche Foundation House Museum, North Adelaide, is easily accessible by bus and limited parking is available onsite.
