Carrick Hill: British-Australian Modernism
Next Occurrence : 20 Jun 2021
Join me, Dr Georgina Downey, art historian and author, on this tour through the interiors and art collection of Carrick Hill. More than a personal and a social history, this tour uses the art works in the Hayward's collection, and their décor, to explore their taste, lifestyle and service to South Australia. We will be focussing on the house as a fascinating time capsule full of layers of meaning and reflections of dual identities; of the Haywards’ British-Australianness, their Establishment-bohemian-ness, and their ease of negotiation between public and private pleasures.
