Overview

Academic couple George and Martha have invited their new colleagues, Nick and Honey, over for a friendly drink. As the alcohol flows, the night gets darker and so does the conversation.

Edward Albee’s masterwork erupted onto the Broadway stage in 1962, stormed the silver screen in 1966 with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, and has been electrifying audiences ever since. Acclaimed director and actor Margaret Harvey (Black Medea, Heart is a Wasteland, RAN: Remote Area Nurse) reinterrogates this classic exploration of reality, illusion and desire through a dynamic new Australian lens. Cast includes Jimi Bani (ABC's Mabo), Susan Prior (ABC's Aftertaste), Rashidi Edward and Juanita Navas-Nguyen.

Creative team includes Set and Costume Designer Ailsa Paterson (The 39 Steps, Gaslight) and Tony Award-winning Lighting Designer Nigel Levings (Hydra, The King and I).

Containing some of the most complex anti-heroes in the theatrical canon, this production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? will pull the rug out from under a whole new generation.
