Floating Life is a poignant and funny film about a Chinese family that falls apart after moving from Hong Kong to Australia. Gradually they find a way of coming together again.

Director Clara Law deftly encapsulates the immigrant experience as one cut off from history, both from one’s personal history and the nation’s history. What does existence mean away from one’s country, the non-existence of an existence when one is cut off from one’s roots?
