Kim David Smith - Mostly Marlene
Next Occurrence : 24 Jun 2021
Helpmann Award nominee, Kim David Smith conjures the glitter, doom, and decadence of 1920’s Berlin with his intimate celebration of the iconic Marlene Dietrich in Mostly Marlene. Smith has been described by Broadway World as the "David Bowie of cabaret," "slyly subversive" by the Wall Street Journal, and the "male Marlene Dietrich" by the New York Times.
Debuting at New York’s legendary Club Cumming in 2020, Mostly Marlene infuses Dietrich’s blueprint for shock, glamour, grace, and gravity with queer mega-muses such as Madonna, Kylie and Liza. This reimagining of Marlene’s repertoire travels from Weimar Berlin to Hollywood, through the battlefields of Europe and into the stratosphere with Marlene’s immortal 'Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuss' ('I am, from head to toe, ready for love').
