The Long Walk
Next Occurrence : 07 Nov 2021
Braving hostile ports upholding the Chinese Immigration Act of the 1850s, more than 16,000 Chinese miners sought landfall in South Australia over a century ago to make the 500 kilometre pilgrimage to the goldfields of Victoria.
Performing on Robe’s rugged yet beautiful coastline where those miners first docked, The Long Walk pays homage to their tenacity in this unique contemporary dance spectacle. Streaming online via real-time drone recording, boundary-pushing choreographer Sue Healey’s new work reveals split-second decision-making between drone pilot, director, musician and performers as they move across a vast landscape.
Immediate, raw and featuring original score by world-renowned percussionist Benjamin Walsh, The Long Walk is a heart-racing exploration of technology’s ability to bring people together and the courage to pursue a better life - no matter the distance.
Performed three times only on Sunday 7 November at 2pm, 4pm, and 7pm.
Watch the live stream on your device at any time or enjoy the full effect of the stunning visuals and sound at The Lab.
Live screenings will also be available at The Lab, Light Square Adelaide (4pm and 7pm only)
