Sacred Garden TourPrice from $12
Fourteen magnificent Carrara marble, Italian-carved sculptures form the centrepiece of the 'Sacred Garden' in the peaceful grounds of The Monastery at Glen Osmond. The garden is nestled at the base of the Mt Lofty Ranges as you descend upon Adelaide. It is tenderly loved and cared for by the Monastery’s dedicated Brother Jim and a small team of volunteers. It is an area dedicated to peace and tranquillity for reflection and prayer. The garden is slowly over time being converted to an Australian Native garden and boasts one of Adelaide’s largest Morton Bay Fig trees, and is recognised by The National Trust of South Australia as a place of historical heritage significance. The statues were originally acquired over fifty years ago when the Passionist Order created a 'Stations of the Cross' walk in their monastery grounds of 'Mary's Mount' in Goulburn, NSW. In 2001, the Passionist Community at Glen Osmond became the custodians of these exceptional works. The Garden is open to the public 7 days a week. Guided tours with Devonshire Tea or Lunch are available by appointment.
