SALA Exhibition: Blending Street & Indigenous Art
Graffiti and Indigenous Art collide in this exhibition with artist Shane Cook . Enjoy a glass of wine, a Sangria, eats from Barossa Street Food, vinyl for purchase by Crackle & Pop Records, chilled beats by The Captain; while Lindsay Wine Estate becomes the gallery for this young artist.
Inspired by art seen on the street, Shane was taught by Adelaide artists in his early teens and then began to blend that art form with indigenous art, taught to him by his mother as a child; blending modern day and traditional dreaming and dream-time stories.
Since completing high school with a Merit Award in Community Studies – Art in the community, Shane has worked in both the South Australian Education System and Justice System Mentoring. Facilitating Art Therapy Workshops also completing Certificates in Community Services and Indigenous Mentoring. As well as working with Adelaide local councils, organisations such as the SANFL and the AFL, Shane has also exhibited at Adelaide's leading Aboriginal Art gallery, Tandanya and was invited by the Australian High Commission to participate in the Artist Exchange program in Kenya.
Shane will speak about his journey, inspiration and future projects. Shane's art will be available for purchase.
