Parachilna Gorge Discovery Tour (Flinders Ranges)

Overview

Lots of tour companies drive through Parachilna Gorge in the Flinders Ranges. But we also stop, get out, and explore the natural & human histories behind the spectacular scenery. A seasonal full day guided tour in our minibus during the autumn & spring school holidays. Discover ancient volcanoes and seas, fossils, tree lined creeks, incredible folding, and an asteroid impact. Enjoy morning tea amongst majestic rugged peaks, and lunch (included) at the famous Prairie Hotel in Parachilna. Explore picturesque, historic ruins and learn their dramatic history. During our drive, keep your eyes open for kangaroos, emus, eagles & other wildlife. And if time and road conditions permit, we'll include some stops along the Brachina Gorge in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park on our way back. Things to bring: - walking shoes - camera - water bottle - sunscreen and hat. Pickups available from Rawnsley Park and Wilpena. This tour includes some short walks on slopes, and across rock outcrops & rubble. You MUST wear enclosed shoes to do this tour -- no thongs, sandals, moccasins, flats or "crocs". This tour is NOT suitable for very young children or for anyone with mobility or balance problems.
