Music and dance
WOMADelaide is all about music and dance. Immerse yourself in sounds, sights and stories from every corner of the globe, including world-famous big-name acts as well as a healthy dose of local and interstate talent.
Taste the world at WOMAD
Entertain your stomach with delicious food from all over the globe. You’ll find a huge amount of vendors all around Botanic Park, with a seemingly endless amount of mouth-watering meals on offer.
Resident chef Poh Ling Yeow heats up the Taste the World Restaurant with a mouth-watering six-dish banquet feast inspired by her childhood memories of Malaysia. This year, 15 WOMADelaide artists are taking part in the Taste the World cooking demonstrations, swapping instruments for cooking utensils as they introduce you to the food, stories and culture of their homelands.
Grab a drink at the Botanical Gin Bar, serving a huge range of South Australian gins including 78 degrees Small Batch Gin, Green Ant Gin, Ounce Gin and Settles Rare Dry Gin.
The global village
Representing Australia's talented makers and creators with an emphasis on ethical commerce, the Global Village is a marketplace of beautiful mementos including clothing and homewares as well as stalls run by not-for-profits including Amnesty International and Mutlicultural Youth of South Australia.
Peruse a wide range of arts, crafts, clothing and jewellery in WoMade – a design market showcasing the wares of local and international artisans.
The Planet Talks
Get inspired by some of the world’s greatest minds at the WOMADelaide Planet Talks. The Planet Talks are a series of live conversations about environmental conservation and sustainable relationships with the planet. The talks will take place at Botanic Park’s Speakers’ Corner, blanketed by a picturesque tree-lined canopy. Listen as experts discuss topics such as climate change, activism, economic growth and the media. The Planet talks will run on Saturday, Sunday and Monday afternoon.
As darkness descends each night at WOMADelaide, the skies above Botanic Park will be transformed by Gratte Ciel’s extraordinary “Place des Anges” (Place of Angels), in a magically joyous aerial ballet to delight both young and old. Gratte Ciel (skyscraper) are a company who seek to fill the ‘empty space’ of the sky with high altitude circus; Palace des Anges is written by Pierrot Bidon and Stephane Girard.
Bringing the kids? There are fantastic activities for the whole family at KidZone including special theatre shows and story-telling workshops. Let the kids jump into action at Evelyn Roth’s interactive Nylon Zoo, or get immersed in the SA Museum Explorers’ Tent and Nature Village. See a full list of KidZone entertainment.
