GREAT STATE VOUCHER

As the booking period has ended, and the deals are no longer available, it is not possible to change properties using your Great State Voucher. You can continue to make date changes with your existing provider until the end of the travel period on 31 March 2021.

Your Great State Voucher code expired at midnight on 31 January 2021. If you have not already made a booking, you will no longer be able to use your Great State Voucher. If you have made a booking, you can make date changes with the same accommodation provider up until the end of the travel period on 31 March 2021.

Accommodation providers with 5 or more separately bookable rooms with a listing on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) are eligible for the scheme. We expanded the criterion for the second round of vouchers (originally set at 10 or more rooms) to open it up to almost 800 South Australian accommodation providers listed on the ATDW. This covers more than 88% of available rooms in the state; and 99% of the overall room stock in Adelaide city. The SATC does not have the capacity to include all types of accommodation providers in this program and must take into account operational limitations.

Not all accommodation providers are participating in this program.

Data shows that CBD accommodation has seen a huge decrease in overnight stays and regions are at or nearing normal capacity on weekends year on year.

Stays at CBD and North Adelaide accommodation providers are traditionally made up of corporate travel, interstate and international visitors, and we know these markets continue to be significantly impacted. Fortunately for our regions, there’s been huge support from South Australians who have got in their cars and got out to the regions, to stay with accommodation providers across the state while their holiday options have been severely impacted by border restrictions.

This rebate is designed to further boost both regions and the city where needed. Consumers can get both the $100 and $50 vouchers and we hope this will entice them to get into the city and out to the regions.

The stimulus is designed to boost accommodation occupancy when it is most needed. Saturday nights are already at strong occupancy levels. The stimulus encourages travellers to choose other nights instead.

Not all accommodation providers in South Australia are participating in this promotion. A list of participating accommodation providers was available on southaustralia.com/voucher during the booking period, all with their specific Great State Voucher deal inclusions on their listing.

The first round of Great State Vouchers injected nearly $10 million into South Australia’s visitor economy – we saw that by enticing overnight stays, it gave people more time and more money to spend on hospitality and experiences during their stay.

The second round launched in time for what is traditionally the peak summer holiday period, seeking to further stimulate the state’s tourism sector when it needs it most. We recognise the challenges impacting the sector, and we are investigating options for further stimulus, targeted to tours and experiences.

Accommodation providers regularly offer special deals for customers to book, either directly on their website or through partnerships and third-party booking sites. 

The Great State Voucher discount is applied to the provider’s normal rates. Often providers will use dynamic pricing – this is similar to the way commercial airlines price their seats – and can vary across room types, length of stay and the amount time between booking and travel. This is determined at the accommodation provider’s discretion.

The Great State Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, so the discount is therefore applied to the normal rate.

If you cancel your travel, you will need to refer to the cancellation policy of the accommodation provider with whom you booked. You will not be entitled to a new Great State Voucher. You may be able to change your dates if your provider agrees.

No, the Great State Vouchers are not transferrable – they are valid for use by the registrant. The name on the registration must match the name made on the accommodation booking. You will need to show these details and identification to the accommodation provider when checking in.

The map collates all tourism operators that are listed on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse, which is a national database. However, not all accommodation providers are participating in the Great State Voucher scheme. If the accommodation provider was not participating in the program, your voucher will not be valid at that property.

The date range functionality is not a true representation of the available dates for each accommodation provider. You need to contact the provider directly or visit their individual website to find out availability.
