Kangaroo Island's Dudley Wines

Get closer to Kangaroo Island wildlife with SeaLink

Dramatic coastal scenery, pristine beaches, local wines and premium fresh seafood make Kangaroo Island a must-see destination.

KI is about beaches that offer plenty of solace and just enough of life’s little luxuries.

Beaches like Vivonne Bay and Stokes Bay are legendary, offering soft sands and sparkling seas with sublime hinterlands of pasture and bush.

At Stokes Bay, you’ll be amazed when you emerge into a protected cove to be greeted by the most amazing secluded beach with its gentle surf and giant pool surrounded by rocks. Grab a meal or snack at the nearby Rockpool Café, pack a picnic or use the barbecue facilities. Look for the elusive and rare Glossy Black Cockatoo at Lathami Conservation Park. Massive Emu Bay beach near Kingscote is fishing central: hook a feed of fresh whiting, garfish and squid from the small jetty or get on to a fishing charter.

KI is blessed with some of the finest local produce in the world, harvested from both land and sea. Island specialties include marron (sweet freshwater crayfish) served at the Andermel Marron Farm Café with wine from neighbouring Two Wheeler Creek Wines; prized Ligurian honey from the purest strain of bee in the world; and sheep milk cheeses, including delicious haloumi and kefalotiri, from Island Pure Sheep Dairy. Eat and drink your way around Kangaroo Island with a visit to Cape Willoughby’s Zest & Thyme licensed café – complete with spectacular sea views – checks all the boxes for its home style cooking. And Dudley Wines Cellar Door gets the trifecta with good food, sea views and wine tasting. There’s also awesome fish and chips – as well as fresh seafood – to be found in Penneshaw at FISH and Kingscote at Kangra Fresh Seafoods, with Penneshaw also being home to a Cooking School, Kangaroo Island Source.

KI is one of the state’s youngest wine regions, with some three dozen growers and a number of producers laying on cellar doors and restaurants.
