Saplings lodge sits amongst a remnant forest of red gums, opposite babbling Minnow Creek. Its garden has been transformed by a re-wilding project- reframing how tourism interacts with wildlife in suburban environments. Named after the six Sapling gums planted to support fauna populations, the garden creates habitats and food, including for the endangered Brown Footed Bandicoot.

A sprawling, mid-century gem, the lodge accommodates 7 and has been recently renovated to accentuate its earthy, hip charm. A place with an arty vibe where guests can unwind amongst beautiful Australian art and furniture, it overflows with features including french leather couches, entertainers kitchen and spa bathroom with oversized shower and double porcelain vanity.

The double slat carport and driveway reflect grandeur sweeping up to the spanish wooden door. Bedroom picture windows allow views of the tranquil native landscape so loved by squabbling native birds, busy bees and snoozy koalas. A huge backyard with kidney shaped lawn features a recycled brick patio and cordon steel fire pit where marshmallows are toasted from the red gum sleeper bench.

Twenty mins to the city and beaches, the lodge is also central to renowned wine regions, great hiking at Belair National Park and as a stopover on the Summit to Sea hiking route. Close to pretty hills towns and public transport, its a lovely stroll for breakfast at Joan's pantry.
