How does love, identity, and culture collide in contemporary times? Drawing from bell hooks' radical understanding of love as a transformative act of care, this debut curatorial exhibition reflects on love as both an emotional and political force that shapes both personal and collective identities.
Bringing together emerging and established artists to explore love's many forms, 'cutting fruits' seeks to find ways to repair, spread compassion and kindness, and strengthen bonds between individuals, communities and wider society. It does so by acknowledging various perspectives, underscored by moments of joy and freedom.
Artists: Aida Azin, Ali Gumillya Baker, Yusuf Ali Hayat, Dominic Guerrera, Phuong Ngo, Alyssa Powell-Ascura, Sonya Rankine, Chris Siu, Wee Shiang Tay.
