Documentary Launch: Hahndorf Echoes of the Past - The People Who Raised a Village
Adelaide
From $25.00
Each year, over a million visitors are drawn to Hahndorf’s charm, history, and picturesque setting. But beyond its bustling streets lies a deeper story—one of resilience, faith, and community.
Through diaries, family records, and oral histories, we bring to life the legacy of Hahndorf’s pioneers. But history is more than just dates and official records—it’s personal. Their struggles, hopes, and triumphs shaped the town we see today.
It’s raw. It’s the whispered stories passed down through generations, still echoing in the present.
Join Sharon Pippos, descendant of early British colonists, and Keith Conlon, renowned South Australian media and history enthusiast, as we uncover the soul of Hahndorf.
Special guests: Descendants of the village founding families are the stars! They have been interviewed, and are taking part to share their family’s story and a little of their own. The story of Hahndorf is woven throughout the interviews.
6.00pm Doors open - enjoy a refreshing drink from the bar, and browse the display.
6.30pm – 7.30pm Documentary screening
7.30pm - 8.00pm Q and A session planned
8.00pm Supper is a fundraiser for the Hahndorf Community Association (HCA), supporting the reconstruction of an historic barn that was carefully dismantled and is awaiting funds for reassembly in the village.
Door Prizes – Generously donated by Beerenberg Family Farm and local MP Rebekha Sharkie.
