Government House Open Day

Adelaide

Free
Event
Her Excellency the Governor and Mr Rod Bunten are pleased to welcome people of all ages to explore Government House and its grounds for Open Day, in conjunction with the Nature Festival.

See inside the public rooms of Government House, its history and contemporary workings, and ask questions of knowledgeable guides.

Take a garden tour or explore the grounds on your own, taking in the beehives, which produce honey used in the Government House kitchen; the Governor's Rose Garden, which features a stand of roses celebrating each Governor in our state's history; and the sweeping lawns, vegetable garden and ceremonial plantings, which include a descendent of the Lone Pine at Gallipoli.

You can visit the Therapeutic Horticulture Australia Marquee to make a simple flower crown, contribute to a giant flower wreath or create a lavender gum nut treasure. You can also take home a local Australian plant to grow in your garden.

This is in addition to tai chi demonstrations, music from the Young Adelaide Voices Choir and City of Holdfast Bay Concert Band, and children's quizzes. Food and drink can be purchased from Novita's Grounds for Growth coffee van and a Scouts SA barbeque.
