Rich, clear, detailed and warm, connect intimately with the sound of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in the stunning acoustic of Elder Hall. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy a relaxed lunchtime concert. This year, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra explores popular works by British composer Vaughan Williams.

In Matinée Series 4 – Folklore, experience Vaughan Williams’ The Wasps: Overture as it opens in a whir before woodwinds spring into folklike melodies, and strings swarm through their lofty
adventure theme.

Following this vibrant start, savour Ruth Gipps’ captivating Oboe Concerto, which evokes the serene woodlands of England.

This energising matinée concludes with Felix Mendelssohn’s youthfully optimistic First Symphony.
