Once a month, Mothervine shines a spotlight on a specific region or country.
This multi-course menu will tantalise your taste buds with traditional flavours created by Head Chef, David Vargas. Each course will have perfectly paired wines from the particular country selected by Head Wine Buyer, Mathieu Smeysters.
August's region of focus is Madrid, Spain. Vinos de Madrid DO is an appellation located in the wider Southern Spain viticultural region that ranges all the way from the Levant region on the Eastern coast to the Extremadura in Southwestern Spain and Andalucia on the Southern coast.
This appellation encompasses four production areas surrounding the capital city. The main varieties planted are Airen, Malvar, Garnacha, and Tinto Fino, also known as Tinta de Madrid, or more commonly as Tempranillo.
Despite the wines being mostly consumed in Madrid, we were able to secure a few wines for this month's region in focus.
