Black Stump - Cowell

In 1972, as part of a New Year's prank, a large stump was placed between two hotels with signs that read: "Best pub this side of the black stump." The original stump was stolen, and in its place, a larger stump was erected, honouring the struggles of early land-clearing pioneers. After enduring several fires, the stump now weighs 2,060 kg.
