The once-in-a-generation circular Jetty is an unmissable feature to Whyalla’s impressive foreshore. The unique design was chosen by the community and has a circle feature which is sure to attract fishers, walkers and sightseers. Beginning construction on September 2019, locals and visitors have watched the impressive structure come to life. The jetty is an extensive 315m long including the circumference. Bespoke lighting has been installed the entire length of hand railing creating a 24/7 attraction with a wonderful ambiance at night. Disabled access is a key design, with 6 locations of sliding shelves on the top handrail for the children and the disabled to fish from. The huge task of the build was taken up by Maritime Construction, with the local GFG Steelworks supplying all the steel required for the build, except for the 102 unique pylons that were driven into the sea bed to support the jetty.
