Attraction
Along the remote Great Australian Bight, Yalata has become one of Australia's most rewarding coastal wilderness destinations. Its dune-backed shoreline offers pristine camping and exceptional surf fishing, with waters rich in mulloway, snapper, Australian salmon and shark. Anglers are drawn here as much by the solitude as the fishing, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices and catch-and-release to protect this remarkable marine environment.

Camping is intentionally low-impact, with 15 designated sites spread across 55 kilometres of coastline. Sites are positioned between 100 and 900 metres from the beach, with some allowing vehicle and ATV beach access, while others are accessed on foot from designated parking areas. Entry is managed through a permit system, and access roads are not publicly signposted. Approved visitors receive detailed directions, ensuring a responsible and immersive experience.

Yalata is Aboriginal-owned land managed by the Yalata Anangu Aboriginal Corporation. Permit fees support land management programs and local Rangers who care for Country. Visitors are asked to respect the cultural significance of the area, with camping restricted to designated sites and access limited to approved tracks and beach zones. All of Yalata Lands are permit-only and alcohol-free zones and are regularly patrolled by Yalata Rangers and SA Police.
