Set on a private island just ten minutes off the coast of Port Lincoln, Louth Island is the home of Rumi, a considered retreat shaped by restoration, design and a deep respect for place.

Once an untamed sheep farm established in 1802, the island is being carefully restored through long-term revegetation and conservation, allowing guests to experience a quieter connection to the landscape, coastline and surrounding waters of the Eyre Peninsula.

Over recent seasons, Rumi has become known for immersive island experiences centred around stillness, nature, conversation and thoughtful hospitality. Guests have explored restored landscapes by buggy, cruised the surrounding waters by catamaran and dined at Samphire Restaurant, where seasonal South Australian produce has been served with a restrained, ingredient-led approach.

Rumi is currently paused to guest accommodation, dining and visitor experiences as the island transitions into the next phase of its long-term vision.

Owners Che and Natasha Metcalfe are now preparing Stage Two, a considered evolution of the island through a new collection of private pavilions and future experiences, designed with the same care, calmness and respect for place that have guided Rumi from the beginning.

What began as a vision for a quieter form of hospitality continues to evolve through restoration, architecture and a long-term commitment to one remarkable island.
