A visit to their home among the vineyards and rolling hills of McLaren Vale offers a unique tasting experience that goes beyond the traditional.
Guests are invited to enjoy a personalised and guided tasting and immersion into the 'why' of In Praise of Shadows with the owner / winemaker in the relaxed atmosphere of the intimate tasting space.
You're invite to relax and embrace the spirit of Ichigo Ichie—a tasting experience that unfolds organically, shaped by the moment, the people, and the surroundings.
Their self-designed and constructed tasting space draws from Zen influenced design. Thoughtful emptiness, asymmetry, and imperfection (wabi-sabi) serve to cultivate serenity, along with rustic concrete floors, industrial fittings and natural timber walls. The feature wall of charred shou sugi ban timber surrounding combustion wood fire celebrates their love for natural materials that bring softness and harmonise with the environment.
A tranquil setting that embraces the play of light and shadow, enhancing the sensory journey and immersive experience as you discover their wines whilst discovering the inspiration behind their journey and story behind every wine.
Their appreciation for eastern Philosophy and subtlety extends beyond design, whether in architecture, photography, or daily rituals, it invites us to slow down and live in the moment.
In the spirit of Ichigo Ichie, there are no strangers here, only friends we were yet to meet.
