Wintering by the Sea exhibition

Art by Design, in A little Art Space, on Kangaroo Island, will join for their first time,10,500 statewide visual artists for SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festival 2025.

"By the Wintering Sea" celebrates a year of collaborative venture with principal and guest artists presenting new and current art works to reflect the quiet beauty of island life during its serene season. On show are over 50 evocative and intriguing 2D and 3D works; sculpture, painting, jewellery, textiles and cast glass testament to the artists' deep connection and observation of the island's unhurried rhythms during winter.

The exhibition opens with a special event at 4 pm on Sunday, August 17, and guests can wander the exhibits in the gallery then fan out to the rear courtyard garden for hospitality and festive winter warmers.

SALA is an annual event that celebrates South Australian artists and their work, with over 600 venues hosting exhibitions - this is one of only two events on Kangaroo Island.

Wintering by the Sea exhibition in Kingscote is open Wednesday to Friday from 10 am to 4:30 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Each day meet with the artists or Curator to hear about the inspiration for this exhibition.
