Murray River Lakes and Coorong

Unique to South Australia, Shell Hill is over 5 million years old, a deposit of oyster shells that were in some places 6 metres thick.

Shell Hill was formerly part of a shallow sea occupying the Murray basin. These ancient deposits have been under threat from past activities which have hopefully been halted, the remains are what we see today.
