This two kilometre walk stretches eastwards from the Waikerie ferry through the pumping station grounds to the lookout, and then along the picturesque clifftop. The height of the cliffs and multiple lookout points along the trail gives fantastic views over the River Murray and the meandering floodplain. River floods now occur only once in 10 or 12 years, but the evidence of flood activity is still evident in a complex of terraces, hollows, wetlands, billabongs, backwaters and anabranches.
Recently completed artworks including a kookaburra mural, and metal sculptures are highlights as you walk along the trail. Make sure to take a selfie with ‘Murray’ with the Silo Art as a backdrop in the selfie chair.
Visit the Peace Pole erected by the Waikerie Rotary Club in 2023, part of the global Peace Pole Project. This is one of 250,000 poles erected around the world with the simple goal to spread the Universal Message of Peace ‘May peace prevail on Earth’.
Access is also available from behind the Rain Moth Gallery and Pioneer Park, off Crush Terrace.
