Check out the famous Waikerie Silo Art trail titled “Health River, Health Community” created by artists Garry Duncan and Jimmy Dvate. The artworks featuring the River landscape and local flora and fauna, can be seen from within the town and the Murray River.
Other highlights of the tour include the much loved Orange Shaped Bins, an iconic symbol of the town. The Rain Moth is a big part of the Waikerie story and the Rain Moth Gallery exhibits some of the best art in the region.
Did you know that Waikerie is proud to be the home of the Murray Cod? The story that the Indigenous people tell is that this iconic green fish, with a mouth like a bucket, created the Murray River with its giant tail.
A trip to Waikerie is not complete without seeing the huge Strangman Testimonial Banner which has been intricately embroidered with Northern Territory gold and silk thread. The banner was presented to Dr Strangman in 1913 by the Chinese community as a tribute to his philanthropic work.
