In 1876, a railway line was open for traffic between Mundoora and Port Broughton. The main function of the railway was the transport of wheat and barley to Port Broughton where it was handled over the jetty into ketches.

The Mundoora Railway History Shed houses one of the old railway carts and other machinery.
