Hills Hollow showcases the creative voices of local students from selected Adelaide Hills primary schools, invited to create and exhibit artwork inspired by the natural environment and their place within it.

Through drawing, painting and mixed media, students explore what they see, feel and imagine about the Adelaide Hills—its wildlife, native flora and precious waterways—both now and into the future. Their works reflect personal connections to the land, revealing care, curiosity and hope for the landscapes they call home.

Students were encouraged to think about sheltered valleys and hollows as places of safety: habitats for wildlife, sites for nesting and rest, and spaces shaped by the elements. From the gentle movement of a dancing breeze through the trees to the steady flow of rivers that sustain and connect life, these natural features provide a rich foundation for creative expression.

Together, the artworks form a collective portrait of the Adelaide Hills as seen through young eyes—alive, protective and ever‑changing.
