SAHMRI is South Australia's flagship not-for-profit health and medical research institute, bringing together more than 700 researchers dedicated to improving health outcomes locally and globally. Established to unite the brightest minds in a collaborative environment, SAHMRI focuses its work across four key research themes: Women and Kids, Lifelong Health, Aboriginal Health Equity and Precision Cancer Medicine.

Located in an iconic and architecturally significant building on Adelaide's North Terrace, SAHMRI has become a prominent landmark within South Australia's BioMed precinct. Behind its distinctive façade, researchers collaborate across disciplines to develop discoveries that improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of some of the most pressing health challenges of our time.

SAHMRI also welcomes the community to explore both the building and the science within. Weekly public tours provide a unique opportunity to step inside the institute and learn more about the groundbreaking research taking place in its laboratories. For those unable to visit in person, SAHMRI's immersive virtual tour offers a 360-degree journey through the facility, featuring cutting-edge animations and stories from researchers whose work is helping to save lives and create healthier futures.
