"My family is my band" says Annie Caldwell, and she means it literally, as her husband, two daughters, two sons and goddaughter are all in the band. Together they have created a powerful disco-soul-gospel from West Point, Mississippi. Annie started the band when her daughter began singing the blues instead of the church music she had grown up with. Annie and her husband agreed "If we don't do something, the devil's going to get her." More than 20 years of music-making later, in 2025, the band released its debut album Can't Lose My (Soul), which The Guardian describes as "a fantastic album – funky, gritty and powerful, packed with incredible singing and potent songs that cast a stark eye over life's hardships". Their real-life troubles and experiences are at the centre of their music, which infuses spirituality and gospel with grit and street savvy.
