Like Me, Like You is a family-friendly theatre event during National Reconciliation Week, aimed at children aged 6 to 8.
It focuses on themes of inclusivity, courage, and belonging through free performances by ActNow Theatre. The show explores the diversity of people, cultures, and stories in Australia today. Through short scenes with songs, dance, puppets, and stories, children learn about inclusivity and how to prevent racism and bullying.
Actors guide the audience towards building personal safety and a sense of belonging while teaching them to advocate for themselves and others.
Before each performance, there is a pre-show activity where children can create origami pieces like planes or boats to place on stage as part of the show. The event aims to ensure that all children have access to this valuable experience.
