Travel is via the Flinders Ranges towns of Melrose, Wilmington and Quorn to Hawker - The Gateway to The Flinders, where we continue north through Parachilna to an overnight stay at Copley. The legendary Strzelecki Track passes through the Cobbler Desert and Montecollina Bore our lunch stop. Depending on road conditions we follow either the Old Strzelecki Track past Nappacoongie, or the main Track past Moomba to Innamincka.
Next day we take the 110 kilometre Coongie Lakes Track which closely follows the north arm of Cooper Creek, and skirts treeless grey clay pans, floodplains and dunes. 80 kilometres from Innamincka is Kudriemitchie Outstation, once used to accommodate mustering parties working from the main homestead at Innamincka. The building has been renovated and is an ideal stop for morning tea! A little further we come to Coongie Lakes - a remarkable semi permanent lake system which is high in ecological value, and supports a large number of water birds.
Another day trip is to Camp LXV "The Dig Tree", and highlights on our return to Adelaide include Cameron Corner, Milparinka (including Depot Glen) , Tibooburra, Sturt National Park and Broken Hill.
