The Back O'Bourke

Adelaide

From $4185

Follow an old pastoral route from Burra through Quandong, Loch Lilly and Harriedale Stations to Broken Hill. Next day visit Mutawintji National Park enroute to the opal mining town of White Cliffs.

One of the legends of outback New South Wales is The Darling River Run - a track over 300 kilometres running alongside the Darling River, from Wilcannia to Bourke. The track takes us through the tiny townships of Tilpa and Louth to Bourke.

Our accommodation in Bourke is the restored and refurbished old Telegraph Hotel, set in over one hectare of beautiful gardens, and the only motel in town with river frontage!

A day of sightseeing next as we visit the Bourke Exhibition Centre, historic Cemetery and drive to Mount Oxley where there are magnificent views and wedge-tailed eagles.

Leaving Bourke we travel to Brewarrina and Goodooga to Lightning Ridge - a town renowned for its beautiful black opal. Take time to look around the town before heading next day to the Warrambungle National Park and Gilgandra.

After an overnight stop in Cobar, travel through Black Stump country to Ivanhoe Hatfield and Balranald.

Return to Adelaide is through Mildura and the Riverland.
