A quintessential piece of Burra's history, Miss Mabel Cottage is named after Mabel Baker, whose family built the cottage in 1853. Set on one and a half acres, this charming stone cottage has been beautifully renovated with country-style décor and offers three bedrooms and two living areas.
The cottage sleeps up to six guests with two queen beds and two single beds. A slow-combustion wood stove and reverse-cycle air conditioning ensure comfort year-round.
The separate formal lounge is a lovely place to relax with a book or enjoy one of the complimentary board games. In the bathroom, a beautifully restored claw-foot bath takes pride of place—perfect for soaking and unwinding. Guests can also enjoy Wi-Fi and Netflix during their stay.
Outside, the large gardens provide plenty of space to relax, with a pergola ideal for morning coffee while enjoying views of Burra's historic stone cottages and walls. A BBQ is available for evening meals—perhaps with a steak from the local Burra Butchers.
Please note the cottage is not suitable for children. Access is located at the rear of the property. While there is no on-site reception, hosts are available by phone or message, and access details are provided on the morning of check-in.
Burra also offers several cafés, pubs and the Burra Passport Key, which provides self-guided access to the town's historic mining sites.
