Join The Rising Sun each week from in the front bar for Sunday Roots & Blues — an easy afternoon of live music, local wines, cold pints and good company. Each Sunday features a different roots, blues or acoustic artist from South Australia and beyond.
Sunday 11 January - Jimmybay
After years living in the red sands of outback South Australia, Jimmybay turned his campfire stories and bush poetry into music and headed north with only his suitcase kick-drum and guitar. Sleeping in the long grass outside Darwin and busking in town each day became the starting point of a journey that led to festival appearances across Australia, including the Illawarra Folk Festival, Deep South Blues and Roots and the National Folk Festival. A blues-folk-alt-country wanderer, he has spent the past five years travelling in his beat-up kombi, captivating audiences with honest storytelling and mesmerising live performances, drawing on his own experiences and the tales of fellow travellers, using guitar, harmonica and stomp-driven rhythms to bring his songs to life.
