Welcome to the Burra and Goyder Visitor Information Centre, located in the heart of Market Square in the beautifully preserved historic building that once housed Elder, Smith and Co (1890).
They are the proud home of the Burra Heritage Passport, your ticket to uncovering the stories, landmarks and hidden corners that make Burra unlike anywhere else in South Australia.
Discover the fascinating mining heritage of Burra with the iconic Burra Heritage Passport, your key to unlocking the town's history. Established in 1979, this is one of the longest continually running heritage experiences of its kind in Australia.
Burra, founded in the 1840s, boasts an impressive legacy, and the Heritage Passport Key allows you to immerse yourself in this unique past. With the key, you gain access to 11 locked National Heritage listed sites, including the Monster Mine Site, Morphett's Engine House, and Redruth Gaol. Each site tells a story, from Burras bustling mining days to its cultural evolution.
The team loves nothing more than helping visitors get the most out of their time here. Whether you're after a self-guided drive through the countryside, a place to rest your head, or simply where to begin, they're here to help!
