The Kerrin McEvoy statue is located on the Streaky Bay foreshore, celebrating one of Australia's most successful jockeys who was born and raised in Streaky Bay.

Created by internationally acclaimed Eyre Peninsula sculptor Ken Martin, the 100kg bronze life-size statue celebrates McEvoy's outstanding career, including three Melbourne Cup victories and 79 Group One wins. His very first race win was on a dirt track at nearby Ceduna.

Unveiled on 27 March 2022, the project was led by the Streaky Bay Racing Club, which raised AUD125,000 over five years to bring it to life. McEvoy, now a father of four, hopes the statue will inspire future generations of Streaky Bay to "dream big and go hard."

Easily accessible on the Streaky Bay foreshore lawns, the statue is within walking distance of the jetty, jetty pool, playgrounds, and cafés, making it a popular stop for visitors.
