Mikkira Station is a tranquil secluded privately owned property 25km South of Port Lincoln near the Southern tip of Eyre Peninsula. Many easily seen koalas live in the old gum trees and kangaroos and emus freely roam around unperturbed by people. The remains of old stone sheepyards and buildings are left to show the property's history when it was part of a larger sheep station. You can camp there in the winter months when the grass is green and tours are available through the Port Lincoln Visitor Information Centre year round. Permit and Gate Key for winter self drive visits or camping are available from Visit Port Lincoln Accommodation Service- Shop 1, Jobomi House, 50 Liverpool Street, Port Lincoln. (A two storey brick building across the road from Coles Supermarket's carpark). You can book ahead online and they will put a gate key in their keysafe by their shop door if you need to pick it up after hours.
Sorry but dogs are strictly not permitted on the property for the sanctuary of the koalas.
There are sturdy canvas campers with comfortable beds onsite that you can hire, or bring your own camper or caravan. There is a shelter shed, toilets and a hot shower, plenty of good water but no power available. Campfires - in containers only - are permitted in winter.
