Established in 1969, the Ceduna Satellite Earth Station, later taken over by Telstra, was the gateway between Australia and Europe for telephone and television communication.
When the Station closed in 1994 Telstra donated it to the University of Tasmania for use as a radio astronomy observatory and is now operated remotely from Tasmania.
Located 34km drive north east from Ceduna along the OTC road, surrounded by views of local farms and wildlife, this is a definite must do visitor experience for those interested in Australian History.
